MANAR is awarded a big NICOP research grant from the United States Office of Naval Research Global!

This week, MANAR was awarded with a NICOP research grant from the U.S. Office of Naval Research Global. The grant, worth $100,000 USD (2.15 Billion VND), was awarded to MANAR to develop new crystalline, porous materials for the purification and transformation of natural gas products. This project will span many disciplines in inorganic chemistry and materials science, including catalysis, gas adsorption, and gas separation. The PIs of the project will be Mr. Kyle E. Cordova and Prof. Hoang Dung.

A Delegation of German Professors and Scientists from LIKAT Visit MANAR

LIKAT

MANAR received a delegation of 15 German professors and scientists affiliated with Leibniz Institute for Catalysis (LIKAT) to discuss research activities, collaboration, and available scholarships. As a part of the visit, MANAR Ph.D. students presented their work and engaged in fruitful discussions with the LIKAT scientists. Furthermore, MANAR students were able to learn more about the research being conducted at LIKAT and were told of scholarships available to them as exchange scholars.

Profs. Hoang Dung and Omar M. Yaghi Receive Prestigious Awards

At a ceremony to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the communitst party in Vietnam, Professor Hoang Dung was awarded the Badge of Ho Chi Minh City for his contributions to the construction and development  in the city, speficially in the fields of science and technology. He was commended on promoting scientific research and technology in higher education. Click here to find out more information on the ceremony.

Professor Omar M. Yaghi is the winner of the 2015 King Faisal International Price for Science. He is recognized on his work in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). In the last two decades, he developed MOFs through innovative approaches to construct novel materials and explored their applications in various fields, including encapsulation of bio-molecules, and capturing of gases such as carbon dioxide and hydrogen.

As Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City celebrated its 20th anniversary, MANAR was represented at the Research and Development Exhibition. MANAR showcased its research and published works to top members of the government, including Vietnam's President Sang, top members of the university, including VNU-HCM President Binh and Vice-President Dat, along with faculty and students.

Congratulations VNU-HCM on twenty successful years in development, progress, and integration! We would like to thank VNU-HCM for their support and assistance in the development of MANAR. We hope the next 20 years are even more fruitful and prosperous!
